Manda Stretch - Profile
The Gift of Storytelling
I like to tell stories of journeys and quests. Also stories to explain natural events e.g. "How Coyote Stole the Fire". I also like to draw upon traditional tales that something of the people and colourful culture to the listeners. I use artefacts collected from different countries I have visited to add to the flavour of the story.
Having been a teacher for 20 years I am experienced telling stories to primary age children. I have an engaging and dynamic style and use rhyme, rhythms and repetition regularly in my telling.
Currently I am employed by Moray council as a Language Support and Early Years specialist teacher. I use storytelling and story making around the schools in Moray to enhance this work.
In addition to my work in schools, libraries, playgroups and the community I am also running storytelling workshops. I recently ran workshops as part of the "Promoting Creativity Through the Expressive Arts" for Angus Council and received comments such as "inspiring" and "empowering".
I am at the moment running monthly storytelling workshops to enable people to cross the bridge into the land of the storyteller.
If you need a storyteller or are interested in the storytelling workshops please contact me.
